Development Committee Hearing
Tuesday, December 3rd, 11:00am
421 N County Farm Rd, Wheaton, IL
Buchanan Energy, of Omaha, Nebraska, is proposing to build a large-format gas station, convenience store, and car wash on the northeast corner of Butterfield Road and Route 53 in Glen Ellyn. Buchanan stated that the site is a prototype, unlike anything they have ever built before. It can best be described as a “mega-pumper”. There will be 20 gas pumps (including diesel), a 6800sf store, and 112’ car wash building. They also stated their intention to pursue a liquor license and the operation will be open 24 hours/day.
If you are concerned about the new “Buckys” service station that Buchanan Energy is planning to erect at the corner of Butterfield Rd and Route 53, please attend the upcoming Development Committee hearing and let your opinion be known. You will have an opportunity to speak out then, statements being limited to three minutes per person.
If you are unable to attend, you can still make a significant impact by contacting the Development Committee members by email or telephone. Their contact information is included in the attached Community Action Alert. There is also useful information in the attached Background-Timeline and Fact Sheet which you can use in your communication.
This issue should be coming to a close soon. If the Development Committee makes a recommendation (grant or deny) on Tuesday, then it is likely that the matter will go before the County Board in January.
