Statement from County Board Chairman Dan Cronin on Emergency Proclamation

Statement attributable to DuPage County Board Chairman Dan Cronin:

“Today we stand with the Governor as he has acted to better prepare our state for the next phase of our response to COVID-19. While the risk to Illinoisans remains low, the Governor’s proclamation provides an avenue for state and local governments to access federal funding for our planning and response efforts. It also allows the state to better assist County and local governments, and to procure emergency supplies and equipment if needed.

Every day, the DuPage County Health Department (DCHD) and our Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management (OHSEM) work to keep our communities safe from the spread of infectious disease. DCHD staff experts have been working tirelessly since late January to investigate potential cases of disease and to quickly contain the spread of novel coronavirus. I want to recognize our healthcare partners and hospitals who continue to work around the clock to respond to this disease. As we enter the next phase of our response, it will be critical for us to work together to minimize the disruption to our social, economic, and healthcare environments.”
